In 2018 UMass football lost a legend and Bill and I lost a close friend. Paul was a man with a no-holds-barred approach to life and the way he faced his illness was an inspiration to us all. I’ll never forget sharing a laugh with him at practice when I had an outburst about passing in the red zone, or how i tried not to make it look obvious I was checking on him when we both knew that’s exactly what I was doing. He was right about Kona coffee and wrong when he told me once he thought I was the only one who cared. I never got to tell him goodbye. I will always regret that. I miss you, Paul. Always will.

The past few years have been tough for me, but thankfully I have had this amazing lady’s example guiding me through the rough patches. Without her even knowing it, @officialstefaniepowers has shown me how to persevere in the face of darkness, how to rise again when life knocks me down, and above all else, how to handle adversity with grace, elegance and dignity. On Wednesday, I turn the page and start a much needed and long awaited new chapter in my life. Thank you ma’am for being a true inspiration and role model. #rolemodel #girlpower #stefaniepowers
